The Balm Hot Mama Blush Review

I've always been a fan of warm peachy/pink blushes with golden undertones and got my hands on The Balm's Hot Mama a few years ago and I'll be reviewing this very same blush. It's a gorgeous peachy shade that's perfect for summer and goes well with warmer makeup looks. It's one of my all-time faves. Read on for detailed swatches and photos.

The Balm Hot Mama

Swatches

Here's a swatch of The Balm's Hot Mama on my arm taken in natural daylight.

Color

The Balm's Hot Mama has often been named a Nars Orgasm dupe but they look like two completely different colors to me. Orgasm has more pink in it whereas The Balm's Hot Mama leans more peach. I would describe it as a light "salmon" color with lots of gold undertones.

I feel like Hot Mama is particularly flattering for those with warm and yellow undertones. There's a bit of a sheen to it. It's not glittery or over-the-top but it has a luminizing quality to it. I usually skip the highlighter when wearing this blush because it already has a highlighting effect built-in.  Adding even more highlighter on-top would be overkill.

Formula

The formula is super pigmented and silky. A little bit goes a long way with this blush. I've had mine for a few years and have quite a bit left but keep in mind that I don't wear the same blush every day. This blush works best when applied in light layers.

Photos

Here are a few photos of me wearing The Balm Hot Mama.

It's a very glowy color and I have no need for highlighter when wearing The Balm's Hot Mama.

What I'm wearing : Joeur Luminizing Moisture Tint, Nars Sheer Reflecting Powder, Nars Orgasm Lipstick, Diorshow Mascra

Value

The value is quite good for The Balm Hot Mama. It's priced in the same range as MAC blushes but more affordable than Nars blushes.

Pros & Cons

Pros are the gorgeous color, pigmentation and reasonable price. The only con I can think of is that some people may not like the packaging which is cardboard (albeit very durable). The packaging is cute and quaint with a vintage feel but it doesn't have that "upscale" packaging which may be a detriment for some.

This blush is a must-have for peachy blush lovers. It's still a must-have even if you have Orgasm because they look like different colors to me.
