Nars Tinted Moisturizer Review, Photos & Swatches

I've always been a fan of tinted moisturizers and prefer wearing them on hot summer days instead of thick foundation. I've been using Nars foundations for awhile and decided to give their tinted moisturizer a try. The coverage is quite good even though it's technically a moisturizer. Check out my Nars tinted moisturizer review below.

Nars Tinted Moisturizer

Color

I'm a NC20 and the color that I have is Alaska. Honestly, it's a smidgen too dark for me as I'm quite on the pale side. It's a warm foundation with strong yellow/golden undertones. However, due to the sheer formula I am able to make this shade work for me, especially when I blend it into my neckline. Nars has a large color selection and I like the fact they always have a large range of colors with yellow and warm undertones.

Photos

Here is a photo of me wearing Nars tinted moisturizer.

Formula

The formula is silky and light weight. It blends effortlessly into my skin. I like to apply this using my fingers but I'll use a beauty blender in order to blend it seamlessly into my neck line. The finish is very natural and on the satin and dewy side. It's not a completely matte finish but there's no shimmer at all. It offers decent coverage and conceals minor redness. If you have a lot of acne and dark circles under your eyes you'll need to apply concealer.

Value

The value is good as it comes with SPF 30 sunscreen which is a higher level of protection compared to many other tinted moisturizers on the market. It also claims to reduce hyperpigmentation and lighten dark spots. I am not sure how accurate that is since no product has been able to completely get rid of all my brown spots but it's nice to know that it has ingredients that are beneficial for your skin. I also like the fact that it's made without parabens, sulfates and phtfalates.

Packaging

Nars tinted moisturizer is packaged in a black squeezable tube. The only minor con is that you can't tell exactly how much product there is left.

Pros & Cons

Pros include the fact that it offers excellent coverage and a very natural finish on the face. It also comes with sunscreen and skin care ingredients which means you get a lot of value for your money. The con is that it's on the expensive side and priced in the same range as Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.

Overall Rating

Nars Tinted Moisturizer is a light weight tinted moisturizer that surprisingly gives a good deal of coverage. It gives a very natural satin finish that isn't overly matte or dewy. It also offers SPF 30 and a host of skin boosting ingredients formulated to improve skin's tone and decrease hyperpigmentation. It's currently of the most popular tinted moisturizers in the beauty blogosphere. We highly recommend it if you can find a good color match.

  • Smooth formula
